Stanley Park
Stanley Park is a public park that is located near the downtown area of Vancouver located in British Columbia, Canada and is almost entirely surrounded by water bodies that comprise Vancouver Harbour as well as English Bay. The park is a landmark in the city's history and was one of the first areas explored in the city. The park was used by indigenous peoples for centuries before it was Colonized by the British in 1858. The park is named after Lord Stanley from Preston who served as the governor general of Canada from 1888 until 1893. In his time, he helped to establish a number of important establishments of culture within Vancouver such as Stanley Park. The park was originally conceived as a park for temperance that would allow people to picnic and get away from the raunchy and drunkenness that characterized the downtown. But over time, it has become one of Vancouver's most visited tourist spots with over 8 million visitors each year.
There are a variety of attractions in Stanley Park including the Vancouver Aquarium, Canadian First Nations Totem Poles, Brockton Point Lighthouse, and Lost Lagoon. The Aquarium hosts more than 70000 animals, including stingrays sharks, sea turtles and dolphins. They also have Totem poles. Lost Lagoon is a man-made lake that hosts various species of fish and birds.
Capilano Suspension Bridge
It spans over 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above the Capilano River, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of Vancouver's most visited tourist destinations. The current bridge was built in 1953 and is made from cable, and has an wooden deck. It sways slightly as you walk across, providing stunning views of the river and canyon below.
The bridge is just part of the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park that includes seven acres (2.8 hectares) of forest, with hiking trails and The Treetops Adventure - a series of suspended bridges high up in the forest canopy and the Cliffwalk that offers a totally new view of The Capilano Canyon.
Vancouver Aquarium
