Stanley Park
Stanley Park is a public park which is situated near the downtown area of Vancouver within British Columbia, Canada and is almost completely surrounded by the waters that comprise Vancouver Harbour and English Bay. The park is a landmark in the city's history and was one of the first areas that was explored by the city. The land was used by indigenous people for centuries prior to when it was colonized by the British after 1858. The park was named in honor of Lord Stanley from Preston who served as the Governor General of Canada between 1888 and 1893.
